Funding

TBI's programs have historically operated with a mixture of in-kind support; individual, organizational, and business donations; and foundation grants. From 1999 to 2006, TBI's total revenue has risen from $132,000 to $216,000.

In 2006, about 32% of TBI's annual revenue was generated from foundation grants. This support came from the:
* Trust for Mutual Understanding,
* Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund
* Arthur B. Schultz Foundation
* Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation
* Open World Leadership Center,
* USFS Office of International Programs.

About 60% percent came from over 500 individual donations to TBI, including many from alumni. TBI has also received generous support from the business community, including Chevron, Belkin, Bently, and Heavenly Mountain Resort. The remaining income for 2006 was generated from special events and student fees from US summer exchange participants.

Considerable in-kind contributions are provided annually by the California Tahoe Conservancy, the California Conservation Corps, and countless organizations such as the League to Save Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort, USFS Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Earth Island Institute, Pribaikalsky National Park, and others who donate significant time, resources, and effort during the TBI SEE program.
